Chat robot, a computer program that simulates human conversation, or chat, through artificial intelligence. A "chatterbot" or "chat bot" is a bot whose purpose is to simply communicate with a client. From humble beginnings such as the early program "ELIZA," chat bots have grown in purpose and scope. Typically, a chat bot will communicate with a real person, but applications are being developed in which two chat bots can communicate with each other. Chat bots are used in applications such as e-commerce customer service, call centers and Internet gaming. Chat bots used for these purposes are typically limited to conversations regarding a specialized purpose and not for the entire range of human communication.
Windows Live Messenger, also known as MSN, is an instant messaging program which allows you to add and communicate with other users. A chat bot is a computer program that can be used with Windows Live Messenger; it registers the messages you send and simulates a human response, allowing you to carry out a realistic, interesting conversation.
